Early in my career, armed with a graduate degree from BYU, and having become a published expert on the leading spreadsheet of the day, Lotus 1-2-3, I participated in the landmark "look and feel" lawsuits (e.g., Lotus v. Paperback, 740 F. Supp. 37, U.S. District Court, D. Massachusetts). I was deposed in the case and later, as a 1-2-3 compatibility expert, I consulted directly with Lotus's Board of Directors in the SCO case, which quickly settled. 

A few years later, I was again tapped for a major lawsuit (Caldera v. Microsoft, No. 2:96-CV-645 B., U.S. District Court, D. Utah), this time as an expert on MS DOS, the predecessor to Microsoft Windows. I flew to Dallas to meet with Courtroom Sciences, Inc. (Phil McGraw's firm) where they tutored me in courtroom demeanor. As this was a billion dollar anti-trust case, it was a rare chance to get a peek into the world of high-stakes litigation. Since then, I have also worked on both class-action litigation and False Claims Act cases, as well as a host of smaller matters.
